Executive Summary
Leading Insurance Organization. Designed and implemented data mart solution to provide complete picture of proposals, agent's performance, new business, claims, etc. The solution was designed and implemented using COGNOS and SQL Server business intelligence tools. Responsibilities included requirements analysis, data modeling, data mart design, data mining, data cleansing,
data porting, BI reports generation and project management.

| Project Description |
Leading Insurance Company needed to have corporate MIS that caters to the information needs of various segments of
information consumers- both internal such as employees, all levels of management (operations, tactical and strategic levels)
and external such as customers, agents, brokers, share holders, etc. Security was built in to system to access information,
depending the type and roles of users. The solution was built using Cognos BI tools. About 40 Impromptu reports and 4 Power
play cubes developed and the same was deployed using the Intranet to about 50 branches across the country. The database was
SQL Server 2000 and SQL server DTS used for data porting. The data sources taken from AS400 applications.

the experience of using ETL tools such as Informatica, Ascential (Prism), Decision Stream (Cognos), and Acta (now part of BO).
Cognos Impromptu Web reporting product, an enterprise reporting product to enable the client and it's key personnel to do both standard reports and adhoc reports, utilize visualizer in dashboard format to condense large volumes of data or present multiple dimensions at once, and Cognos Powerplay to analyze information all of this using the company intranet. The Management was thus able to have it's pulse on the sales performance of the company on a daily basis and to take corrective and proactive steps to further the companies sales process and increase efficiency.
